PASTOR BILL is out of town until Thursday, January 14.  This weekend, we welcome Pastor Robert Roberts as our guest pastor.  In case of an emergency during Pastor Bill’s absence, please contact the church office during office hours (894-2611).

A CALL has been extended to Pastor Paul Kruse, now serving Light of Christ in Marysville (near Port Huron), Michigan.  Please pray for him as he seeks God’s guidance in determining whether to continue serving where he is or accept the Call to serve at Zion.

CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS are coming down this Tuesday, January 12, at 8:30am.  We can use lots of help!

SHUT-IN VISITATION TEAMS:  Visits will be this Wednesday, January 13, and Thursday, January 14.

MEN”S CHORUS begins rehearsals this Thursday, January 14, at 7:45pm in preparation for Gospel Tunes Weekend in early February.

MANY WEEKENDS are open for bulletin sponsorship and/or altar flowers. If you’re interested in sponsoring the bulletin or placing altar flowers, contact the church office (894-2611).

ZION’S WINTER BLOOD DRIVE:  Wednesday, January 13at St. Hedwig’s Parish Hall from 1:00-7:00pm.  Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred.  A sign-up sheet is located at the Welcome Center or call 1-866-MIBLOOD (642-5663) to schedule your appointment.

SCHOOL NEWS:

Zion School is hosting a fundraiser at the South Euclid McDonald’s (near AAA) on Saturday, January 23.  Using the coupon available at the Welcome Center, we will get 20% of all sales all day. The staff will be serving from 4:00-7:00pm.  Monies raised will assist in purchasing new textbooks for the school.

SCRIP: The next order date is Monday, January 11.

LWML QUILTING: Sunday, January 17, from 2:00-4:00pm in Ministry Room A. The quilts we make here at Zion are distributed around the world through Lutheran World Relief.  No sewing experience or knowledge is necessary.  Blankets, sheets, and similarly large pieces of cloth are needed.   Questions?  Contact Julie Corrion (893-9371) or Eileen Roberts (686-0376).

AREA EVENTS…

Chicken BBQ – Sunday, January 10, from 11:00am-1:30pm at Valley Lutheran High School.  $11 for 1/2 chicken or $8 for 1/4 chicken; takeouts available.  Proceeds will benefit the music, drama, and athletic departments.

ALTAR FLOWERS are presented by Scott & Melissa Srebinski.
