Mr. Raz was born in Calgary, Alberta (Canada) and grew up in Kirkland, IL. He graduated from Concordia University, Chicago with a degree in Church Music and received his Masters of Arts in Music from there as well. His father is a Lutheran Pastor, his mother is a retired Lutheran School Teacher, and he has two brothers. Mr. Raz is married to Sarah, who teaches 3-year-old preschool at Zion. They love spending time with daughter, Grace, who tuned 1 in July. In addition to music, he enjoys sports, movies, and food.
Miss LaRocque was born in Bay City, attended Immanuel Lutheran School through 8th Grade and graduated from Central High School. Her undergraduate work was at Concordia University, Seward, NE, and her graduate work was through SVSU. She holds Masters Degrees in Elementary Education and Administration. She taught three years at St. Thomas Lutheran School in Eastpointe, MI; 20+ years here at Zion; and served 6 years as Principal at St. Stephen Lutheran School, Waterford, MI. She has 1 sister who resides in Bay City, 1 sister who lives in Florida, 4 nieces and nephews, and 5 great nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Laboda serves Zion as the School Secretary. She has been the school secretary for 21 years; from 1987-2000 and then rejoining the staff in 2008. Mrs. Laboda was born and raised in Hemlock. Her family includes her husband Tim and their “four-legged” children, Riley and Roscoe. She has 1 brother, 1 sister, 4 nephews, and 1 niece. She enjoys reading, organizing, crafts, and quilting.
Miss Schlosser is in her 2nd year at Zion. She graduated from MSU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel and Textile Design. ?She has more recently received her Early Childhood Education credentials from Delta College. She continues to attend early childhood workshops and conferences. She has 3 nieces and 3 nephews with whom she spends lots of time supporting at their various activities. Becky is a member of Trinity Lutheran church on Broadway and is very actively involved in various music programs there. she is a color guard coach at Western High School and also directs and choreographs a local independent winter guard. In her free time, she enjoys reading, sewing, quilting, and doing alterations.
Mr. Haggitt is in his 15th year of teaching at Zion and is a Zion graduate. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secondary Education from SVSU. He and his wife Jamie, are the parents of Karley and Parker both students at Zion. As his students know, Mr. Haggitt, loves University of Michigan sports and the Detroit Tigers.
Now in her 18th year of teaching at Zion, Mrs. Glumm is a Zion School graduate and daughter of member Carol Boes. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from SVSU and her Colloquy as a Lutheran teacher from Concordia, Ann Arbor. She and her husband, Tony, have three sons; A.J., Charles, and Daniel and soon-to-be daughter-in-law Samantha. In addition, to spending time with her family, Mrs. Glumm enjoys reading, baking, biking, and serving as a parent volunteer at various sporting and scouting events for the boys.
Mrs. Himm begins her 1st year at Zion. She holds a BME Degree in K-12 from Olivet college. Mrs. Himm has previously taught in California, Minnesota, and Michigan. Her family includes husband Ricky, son Benjamin, and her therapy dog, Beethoven. Mr.s Himm enjoys reading, traveling, camping, giving music lessons, and volunteering with Beethoven at McLaren Hospice and “Tail Waggin” Tutors” reading program.
Mrs. Priem is beginning her 1st year at Zion. She graduated from CMU with a B.S. Education and a B.S. in Museum Studies. Originally from Charlotte, MI, Mrs. Priem has taught in Alaska, California, and Michigan. She and er husband, Ben have a small farm which includes turkeys, chickens, a duck, and their rescue dog, Suka. Her hobbies include reading, traveling, singing, and being outside.
Mrs. Walderzak is a gradate of SVSU. Before coming to Zion, Mrs. Walderzak taught for five years in North Carolina. She and her husband, Patrick, live in Frankenmuth with their sons: 4-1/2 year-old, Liam and one-year-old, Beckham. She enjoys being outdoors, reading, and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Gail is in her 15th year of teaching preschool at Zion. She received her CDA from Delta College. Mrs. Gail is also a licensed hairdresser and operates a salon in her home. She and her husband, John, have four daughters and eight grandchildren. She enjoys spending as much time with her family as possible.
Mrs. Raz is excited to continue sharing the love of Jesus with the preschoolers at Zion. She has previously taught in Chicago and at Faith, Bay City. She She graduated from Concordia University Chicago with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education. Mrs. Raz enjoys spending time with her husband, Matthew and their one-year-old daughter, Grace.
Mrs. Krupa is a graduate of Zion, Handy High School, and Delta College’s Childhood Education Program. She is married and has one daughter, Jamie, who is in the 11th grade at Western High School. She enjoys knitting, walking, scrap-booking, and serving as chauffeur to Jamie and her friends in the explorer group.
Mrs. Kruse joined Zion’s staff this year. She holds a Secondary Education Degree from Concordia-Ann Arbor and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Michigan University. She previously taught kindergarten and 1st grades at Lutheran schools in St. Clair, Port Huron, and East Pointe. Mrs. Kruse and Pastor Paul have three children, Ted, a processing engineer at GM in Lansing; Ben, an SVUS student pursuing a Secondary Education degree; and Amanda, attending Ferris State University pursing admittance to the College of Optometry. Mrs. Kruse’s hobbies include reading, fishing, and crocheting.
